Dancing Cloud Farm Horse Rescue, Inc., (DCFHR) was established in July, 2008 when thirteen starving and neglected horses were rescued and brought to our farm.  Before this rescue, we had taken in eight previous rescues, brought to us by owners who could no longer afford to keep their horses or by people who rescued the horses themselves but had no place to keep them.  With our world's economy in trouble and with the number of home foreclosures, horses and other animals are being abandoned in great numbers; we saw the need for a horse rescue and sanctuary in Southwest Georgia and committed ourselves to using our farm to help horses.  A group of horse lovers joined together to create Dancing Cloud Farm Horse Rescue, Inc.   We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and we are funded totally by donations of feed, hay, and finances.

Dancing Cloud Farm Horse Rescue has been featured in the December, 2008 issue of Vintage Lifestyle Magazine in a story created by Kate Deloach.  To read the entire story, click here.

Dancing Cloud Farm Horse Rescue, Inc.'s  purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate, and relocate horses.  Rideable horses brought to or donated to DCFHR will be available for adoption at a minimum fee; horses at DCFHR receive good feed, fresh hay, open pastures, veterinary care, deworming, farrier care, vaccinations, and will be evaluated for soundness and riding.  For horses that are unrideable for either age or health-related reasons, our goal is to place those horses with new owners who will allow them to live out their days as pasture companions.  In the future, we hope to have additional acreage and volunteers to help us maintain a horse sanctuary so that old, unrideable horses can live out their days in peace and safety.

A Prayer for Animals
by Albert Schweitzer

Hear our humble prayer, O God, for our friends, the animals,
especially for animals who are suffering;
for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry;
for all that must be put to sleep.
We entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity,
and for those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and
gentle hands and kindly words.
Make us be true friends to animals and so to share the blessings
of the merciful

Matthew 5:7  "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy."
