Whether you are looking for a child's
or beginner's horse, or maybe a trail, pleasure, or show horse for
yourself, or a companion horse for your other horses, consider adopting
one of our horses. You will be giving a needy horse a safe,
loving, forever home. As adoptable horses leave Dancing Cloud Farm
for their new homes, we are able to take in other horses that need
sanctuary, medical care, and TLC. Our purpose is not to keep
horses here for long-term care unless that is needed, but to find new
homes for them.
If you are
currently a member of Dancing Cloud Farm Horse Rescue, Inc., and are
interested in becoming a DCFHR foster home, please contact

"Hannah"
Hannah
is a mild-mannered, OTTB (off the track thoroughbred) who loves to go
out on trail rides. Hannah came to DCFHR in October 2008 and was
adopted out almost
immediately. In the spring of 2011, Hannah’s owner moved to another
state, abandoning Hannah. We could either come get Hannah or she would
go to the slaughter auction. DCFHR volunteers Elizabeth and Anne spent
an entire day on the road to go pick up Hannah and return her to DCFHR
where she spent the summer, gained weight, and blossomed into a
beautiful mare again. Although she was bred and trained as a racehorse,
Hannah has a peaceful, cooperative spirit. She’s a true athlete, has
spirit and strength, and needs an experienced rider who is not
intimidated by her strength and size. It is our goal at DCFHR to find
perfect matches for our horses. If you are interested in an excellent
trail horse who seems to enjoy the opportunity to work, contact us about
Hannah. Thank you for helping us in our mission to provide good care
and homes for our horses that come to our rescue farm.
"Scarlett"
Scarlett is our three
year old quarter horse mare and is going to be a breeze to train thanks
to her laid-back personality, her willingness to please, and the way she
learns quickly. Our trainer, Mandy, is working with Scarlett on ground
driving and has also been in the saddle. Our hopes are to teach
Scarlett to pull a buggy and be a good saddle/trail horse.
Many,
many thanks to our DCFHR supporters who have provided safe haven for
Scarlett while she grew up here at Dancing Cloud Farm. When DCFHR
picked up Scarlett in September 2010, she was a starved, sad little
yearling that had been abandoned on some land that was for sale.
All she had to eat were weeds, leaves on trees and
bushes, and whatever green she could reach by sticking her head through
the loose barbed wire fence to eat what was within reach on the other
side. Many thanks to our volunteer Owen who has spent hours working
with Scarlett, teaching her to lead, to stand tied, and to stand for the
farrier. Scarlett is going to make an excellent, well-trained horse!
