Another reason we do what we do...

With the overwhelming volume of people contacting horse rescues to take their horses they can no longer care for, we are updating our rescue websites to include listings of horses for sale by their owners.  Our goal is to get homes for these horses before they are in bad shape and/or meet other fates.

Please Note:  Horses listed here are NOT at Dancing Cloud Farm Horse Rescue.  They are from individuals doing the best they can for their horses.  If you are interested in any of these horses please contact the person listed.  We do not have any personal experience with any of these horses unless otherwise noted.

If you would like your horse added to the list please e-mail dancingcloudfarm@gmail.com

We will also list anyone looking for horses.

This list will be updated weekly.

HORSE WANTED:     I am personally looking for a DEAD broke horse for one of my students. Would prefer older gelding, mares okay as long as they are even tempered. Nothing younger than 10 and nothing older than about 24.  Size can range from 14.2 to 15.3. This child will not be turned loose, she will be riding under supervision and will eventually move up to barrel racing, and team penning so horses with this background will be preferred but not necessary as long and they are SENSIBLE. Please e-mail me all details and pictures. Would like to stay @ $1500 or under.  Contact spinninpep@msn.com

Central Florida/Auburndale area:    Lark is an eight year old dark Bay Tobiano Paint/Thoroughbred type gelding, blind in his right eye from an untreated injury. He is VERY ear shy, but if you work slowly and confidently, he will allow you to put his halter on and off. You can put a blanket and/or sheet over his head. He clips, except his ears, again if you work patiently with him. Baths are not his favorite thing. He will load right into a trailer with no problem, day or night. He stands tied very well. This horse has been manhandled, but is learning to trust again and is ready to start bonding with his next person. He would make a great English 4-H prospect for a young person ready to move up. He is a beautiful mover. Needs an experienced home. Contract is a lifetime.  spinninpep@msn.com

Four year old grade paint gelding. Supposed to be broke, but owner has never ridden him. Has current coggins but not current on shots. NEED TO SELL   $500,  contact Billie @863-269-6036

FREE TO GOOD HOME. Approx. 15 yr old gaited paint mare. VERY GENTLE.  A personal friend of mine bought this mare to get her out of a bad situation. She was very underweight. Now that she has weight on her, she realized she is gaited!! She does not like gaited horses so would like to find her a good home. This mare is very gentle but doesn’t know a whole lot. She doesn’t know how to neck reign but if you need a nice quiet horse to plunk around on that is her.  Contact spinninpep@msn.com

FREE TO GOOD HOME.  Approx 2 yr old palomino filly. This filly is halter broke but it very uneasy with new people. She was bought from a dealer in very bad shape. The current owner has her looking great but has lost her job and needs to place her before finances become a problem. This filly will require someone that is patient and quiet. From the pictures she looks like a very nice horse. She just needs someone to take her and finish her. She will make someone a very nice project. Contact spinninpep@msn.com

Very nice 9 yr registered Quarter Horse mare; well-bred. I believe this mare would make someone a really nice roping horse or even a barrel horse. She is bred to be a working horse. I really like this mare and if I didn’t have my hands full would consider her for myself. She hasn’t been ridden into the ground as a baby and just needs some hours in the saddle.

Here are her bloodlines:   http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/jets+san+belle

Asking $1000 for this mare but the biggest concern is A GOOD HOME where this mare will get the riding and time she needs. She is located in Tennessee.

Here is the write up on her from the owner:

"She stands about 15.1 and was also foaled in 2000. STOUT made girl with a really pretty head and neck. Smart mare, very people oriented, and gets along great with other horses. BEAUTIFUL MOVER. I really think she could be any discipline you asked her to be. Has been ridden but sells as green due to never having had time to finish her. I have also never bred her but think she'd make beautiful foals. I bought her as a two year old no one had ever touched. Spent a lot of time with her on up to getting her broke just after she turned four (waited a little longer as she spent her first two years doing nothing at all). She was doing great, no buck no rear, but I had to put her on the back burner when I started working crazy night time hours as a 911 dispatcher. She has always acted sane under saddle and has absolutely wonderful ground manners, I would let anyone handle her on the ground for any reason i.e. grooming, farrier visits, bathing, lunging, trailering, veterinary care, etc..... She has a small scar on her back right pastern that has been there since I bought her but has never given her any problems, vet looked at it when I purchased her and said she is fine so she is sound. Scar is likely result of a cut that was never doctored, but not one deep enough to cause any issues.

She was originally sold on a lease to purchase agreement but was repossessed due to lack of payment as well as poor care of  the horse. When we picked her up she was very underweight, covered in cuts (all have healed now and left no scars), and was also missing chunks of mane and tail (which are growing back nicely). The person who was keeping her had her for 6 or 7 months and ,after only having her back for almost two months, she is back at her normal weight and looking great as you can see from her pictures which were taken a week ago. I do not know if the person who had leased her rode her while they had her (their intent was to use her to sort cows with) but she has been ridden only once since I got her back. Did very well until the gentleman riding her let her get nose to nose with another mare over a fence line and she did rear but I cannot entirely blame that incident on Jet. We also didn't lunge her or do any kind of groundwork with her we quite literally just brushed her off and saddled her up in the pasture to see what she would do. She crossed water for the first time that I know of that day and didn't balk at all and did well until the fence line issue.  We continued riding her after the fact and she acted as though nothing happened, no further incidents. I've run through her groundwork a few times since getting her back and she doesn't seem to have forgotten a thing. Everything I did with her on the ground was meant to emulate things that would be asked of her under saddle so she shouldn't really be much trouble to finish, just needs the miles. I've never pushed her for much she's really only been at a walk trot.

Someone with the time to put into her could have a really great horse, but you can see why selling her has been a challenge as she is 9 and I can only call her green. She has been restarted nearly annually but I've just never been able to consistently ride her enough to finish her and can no longer afford her. My other horse is already broke to death so that makes Jet the first logical horse to be sold and I've wasted enough of her time. I'd like to see someone buy her who can utilize her potential. I've had teenagers make offers on her that were just not experienced enough riders for her so I couldn't in good conscience sell her to them for fear they'd get hurt and maybe even take it out on the horse by off loading her any old place to be rid of her, there's been a few more backyard type breeders that just didn't sit well with me as good homes for her, and then there has been all the tire kickers so I appreciate you sitting through my lengthy reply and spreading the word about her. I have attached three photos of her. If you would like others or have any other questions about her just let me know."    Contact spinninpep@msn.com

FREE TO GOOD HOME. 7 yr old TB stallion. I am waiting on more information and pictures of this guy. He is broke to ride but is not for beginners.  The person that has him rescued him several months ago and has run into some health issues that have put her on bed rest. She has had to find homes for almost all of her animals and really needs to place this guy. She is going into the hospital in 4 weeks and would like to have him re-homed by then.

I AM PERSONALLY REQUESTING: that if you are interested in this guy that you sign a contract stating that he will be gelded within 30 days.  We do not need any more stallions in the world and I will not add to the over breeding problem. Don’t mean to come across harsh,  but there is no reason that this horse should still be a stallion.  Contact spinninpep@msn.com
